AKP Sports Foundation Announces Coach Steve Baik, WNBA Star Jihyun Park, and WKBL Legend Kim Jung-Eun as Headliners for 2026 AKP Sports Academy Los Angeles
Annual Community Summer Sports Academy to Inspire and Mentor Youth Through Professional Athletes, Leadership Development, and Faith
Los Angeles, California – June 30, 2026 — AKP Sports Foundation is proud to announce that nationally acclaimed basketball coach Steve Baik will serve as the Headliner Coach, while Jihyun Park of the Los Angeles Sparks and the Korean Women’s National Basketball Team, along with Kim Jung-Eun, one of the most accomplished players in Women’s Korean Basketball League (WKBL) history, will headline the 2026 AKP Sports Academy Los Angeles.
AKP Sports Academy is AKP Sports Foundation’s annual community summer sports academy that brings together professional athletes, coaches, and mentors to inspire and equip the next generation through sports, leadership development, character building, mentorship, and faith. Designed for youth of all backgrounds, the Academy provides participants with the opportunity to learn directly from elite athletes and coaches while developing athletic skills, teamwork, confidence, and lifelong values both on and off the court.
The Academy will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) and is expected to welcome youth and families from across Southern California for an afternoon of sports instruction, leadership development, mentorship, and community engagement.
Hosted by AKP Sports Foundation, one of the nation’s leading faith-based sports nonprofits, the event reflects the organization’s mission of sharing love (Agape), opportunity (Kairos), and life (Pneuma) through the power of sports, service, and community.
Coach Steve Baik is one of the nation’s premier basketball coaches, having led Chino Hills High School to an undefeated 35–0 season and the No. 1 national ranking while earning National Coach of the Year honors. Throughout his distinguished coaching career, he has developed numerous NBA players and NCAA Division I standouts, including Lonzo Ball, LaMelo Ball, and Onyeka Okongwu, and continues to mentor young athletes across Southern California.
Joining Coach Baik are two of Korea’s most respected women’s basketball stars.
Jihyun Park currently competes for the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA and has represented South Korea on the international stage as a member of the Korean Women’s National Basketball Team. Recognized for her elite playmaking ability, leadership, and relentless work ethic, Park has become one of Korea’s most accomplished basketball ambassadors and an inspiration to young athletes around the world.
Kim Jung-Eun is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Women’s Korean Basketball League (WKBL) history. A longtime member of the Korean National Team and multiple-time WKBL champion, Kim has built an extraordinary career defined by excellence, leadership, and consistency, inspiring generations of basketball players throughout Korea.
Throughout the afternoon, participants will take part in basketball instruction, leadership sessions, athlete Q&A discussions, mentorship opportunities, interactive activities, and community fellowship while learning from some of the sport’s most accomplished coaches and athletes.
