Hosei Kijima

Athlete

Hosei Kijima is a rising Japanese midfielder for D.C. United in Major League Soccer whose journey reflects resilience, discipline, and global ambition. Born in Yokohama, Japan, in 2002, Kijima moved to the United States at age 12 to pursue soccer at IMG Academy in Florida—a bold decision that set the foundation for his growth both as a player and as a person. After a standout collegiate career at Wake Forest University, where he became team captain and earned multiple regional honors, he was selected 17th overall in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft by St. Louis City SC. Kijima quickly made headlines by scoring a decisive goal in his professional debut and went on to prove himself as one of the league’s most promising young midfielders. Now with D.C. United, he continues to impress with his technical skill, work ethic, and creative playmaking.

“With a degree in Exercise Science, fitness has always been apart of Calvin’s identity. After playing basketball at the professional level, he taught online cooking classes and fell in love with teaching others about nutrition and food.

Calvin’s passion is to help individuals learn that nutrition is much more than just one ingredient or one food. Any food can fit in a balanced diet and no food is deemed “bad.” Whether it may be fat loss, weight gain, or weight maintenance, food should be enjoyed at all levels.

New experiences and relationships with people is what he cherishes, so whether it may be partying all night, talking over a glass of wine, or a simple movie night, we’re always going to have a great time!”
