AKP Sports Foundation to Launch First-Ever Sports Academy in Washington, D.C. Region
June 20, 2025 – Washington, DC KP Sports Foundation (AKP) is thrilled to announce its first-ever AKP Sports Academy – DC (Academy) taking place July 19–20, 2025, at Meridian High School (121 Mustang Alley, Falls Church, VA 22043). The event marks AKP’s continued expansion into the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area, building on the success of its flagship programs in Los Angeles and New York.
AKP Sports Academy is a free summer sports camp that provides 1st to 8th grade students with an educational, affordable, and accessible sports experience. The two-day event will focus on basketball on Saturday, July 19, and soccer on Sunday, July 20, led by collegiate athletes, professional coaches, and AKP Sports Ambassadors. The program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, leadership, and community service.
Children will receive t-shirts, water, snacks, and mentorship throughout the day.
“This is a milestone moment for AKP,” said John Lee, CEO of AKP Sports Foundation. “Bringing the Academy to the DMV allows us to serve a new generation of youth and families in this region through the power of faith and sports. Our goal is to equip students with skills, confidence, and the message of the gospel.”
The Academy is hosted in partnership with local organizations, churches, partners and volunteers to create a dynamic and meaningful experience that reflects AKP’s mission: to empower the next generation through faith, sports, and service.
