The AKP Sports Foundation is thrilled to announce the commencing of the Armed Forces Classic (AFC) on November 3-4 at Queens College, New York. A basketball tournament that goes beyond competition, this event is the largest gathering of AAPI cadets, veterans, and local community members in the NY tri-state area. As we commemorate our veterans' bravery and sacrifice, local church teams and military academies, namely West Point Academy, as well as veterans from all branches of the military, will showcase their skills on the court. But this event is more than just basketball – it's a heartfelt tribute that combines the spirit of camaraderie with a strong commitment to community service. The Armed Forces Classic embodies unity, teamwork, and gratitude as we come together to honor our heroes, celebrate our military academy cadets and make a lasting impact in the NYC community.
In addition, AKP will be partnering with Commonpoint, a local Queens-based organization that prioritizes community service, and Heart of Dinner, a local organization that addresses food needs for AAPI senior-citizens.
John Lee, CEO of AKP Sports Foundation added, “We are honored to present the inaugural Armed Forces Classic, an event that embodies the core values of our organization. This tournament is a celebration of unity, where sports and service intersect. It's a platform to honor our veterans and support those in need, all while showcasing the power of athletic competition. The Armed Forces Classic represents our dedication to bringing people together through sports, highlighting our AAPI veterans, cadets and members of the military and more. I am excited to see the impact it will have on the NY tri-state community and beyond.”
